| specifications︰ | OKIDA SYSMOLARM QUAKE ALARM, with its very sensitive sysmogram-sensor, is able to detect the fastest pioneer quake waves-the P waves- which cannot be sensed by humans. A 110 dB alarm sound is produced upon detecting an earthquake of magnitude 5 or greater and a level is displayed on a one digit display, proportional to the the displacement. This gives us 5 seconds more for every 20km distance to the center of the earthquake (which is large amount of time considering that collapse of buildings occur in 10 sec after the R-waves, which are 3 times slower as the P-waves, arrive)and also eliminates the risk of being asleep when the distructive waves ( R-waves) arrive.
Main Blocks of SYSMOLARM:
SENSOR: A sysmogram, similar to the ones used measuring earthquakes, working on the principle of elecromagnetic current induction. FILTER: A third order Bandpass filter is used, to distinguish vibrations from earhquake waves. This filter passes only the 1-10 Hz spectrum. MICROPROCESSOR: Signals, passing through the filter are processed via a software and according to the detected magnitude, information is sent to the output ports. OUTPUT PORT and BATTERY: According to the information received from the processor, magnitude is displayed, alarm sound is produced. A battery able to maintaining the system for 24 hours without line power, is inside the system to be able to respond to detections when no line power is available.
